Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), the pioneering medical college in Uttarakhand and the first to offer a Ph.D. program in medical sciences in the state, is dedicated to fostering a dynamic learning environment. Our institute is equipped with outstanding facilities designed to help students thrive in the medical field. At HIMS, both students and faculty play crucial roles in the educational process. Our 1200-bed Himalayan Hospital, the largest super-specialty postgraduate teaching hospital in the state, provides comprehensive training opportunities across all specialties and super-specialties. The hospital’s departments are outfitted with the latest cutting-edge technology and equipment, and all laboratories hold NABL accreditation.

Set in a picturesque, Wi-Fi-enabled campus, SHIMS offers a supportive and focused environment for learning. Our library, open on all working days, boasts the latest books and grants access to over ten thousand national and international journals.

A distinctive feature of our institute is the Department of Medical Education, which serves as a Regional Centre for Faculty Development. This recognition by the National Medical Commission of India allows us to train medical faculty from 19 medical colleges across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.

In addition to MBBS, HIMS offers a range of postgraduate programs, including M.D., M.S., diplomas, and certificates in all clinical, pre-clinical, and para-clinical disciplines, as well as postdoctoral, Ph.D., and fellowship programs.
